Abstract
This section is dedicated to the personalities directly connected to the founding of the Ethnographic Museum of Moldavia, but also to the ones who had influenced the first decades of this museum’s existence. Naturally, this section would most frequently present documents, studies or works written by the ethnologist and sociologist Ion Chelcea, whose destiny had been connected to the one of our museum for almost 15 years (1943-1957). As part of our project focused on the knowledge of Ion Chelcea’s work, initiated in the first volume of this Yearly Book in 2001, this year we publish only two documents. The first one is a “report on the scientific, didactic and organizer activity of Mr. Ion Chelcea, Ph.D.”, most likely written in 1943; this report confirms his appointing as professor at “Cuza Vodă” University in Iași as well as the organizer of the Ethnographic Museum of Moldavia. The second document, entitled Autobiography and written during the period 1950-1951, presents unpublished information related to his life and activity from early childhood until the 6th decade of the former century.
