Abstract
Based on several archival funds within the Central Historical Archives and the Regional Department of the National Archives of Iasi, the paper succinctly presents the evacuation process that, beginning with March 1944, the cultural institution from the former department of Iasi were submitted to. The focus is on the efforts made by the central and local authorities of the time during the evacuation operations of institutions such as “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University and “Costache Negruzzi” Boarding High School. The two prestigious cultural institutions of Iasi, together with archival funds and museum collections of Iasi were to be evacuated in the southern side of the country (county of Arges) and Transylvania (county of Alba).
