ABSTRACT
Serving to complement the concerns regarding the Pocreaca township in Iași county, the author of this work is concerned with the history of a family that is well-known in the modern history of that area. The history and genealogy of the Handoca family. To the genealogical information known from the previous works by Dumitru I. Handoca, Mircea Ciubotaru and Irina Roxana Petre, we can add some of the more interesting data, gathered from the documents that were either kept at the Iași Branch of the National Archives, or in the archives of the school in Pocreaca village, where Dumitrache Handoca and Ecaterina (Catinca) Handoca, neé Crivăţ, spent most than halftheir lives. The information added to what had previously been written may contribute to the completion of a portrait of the family’s life, a family that was special in its own way, dating back to the 19th century.
