Abstract

Cultural mediation covers a wide spectrum of activities that aim to create an interaction between the cultural-institutional and public space. Over the past five decades, societal changes, technological development and the advent of the Internet have created and provided new opportunities and challenges for cultural mediators. Cultural and scientific communication has expanded to a wider spectrum of audiences with different needs and interests. This essay seeks to provide a map of these changes and to identify the axes on which cultural mediation today moves.
