”The stone of Aron Vodă” – A forgotten medieval monument
(abstract)
The present note is an attempt to valorize a monument which is well-known but generally neglected by specialists. It is a petroglyph cut in an old stone (Fig. 1-4), close to Agapia Veche Monastery and which relates an episode from the youth of Aron Vodă. It comprises clarifications concerning the content of the inscription, known today only through Ion Neculce, as well as several details regarding the aspect and the positioning of the monument.
