Abstract

ROMANIAN BOOKS PRINTED IN BUCHAREST BELONGING TO COLLECTIONS AND LIBRARIES OF CHISINAU (THE LAST DECADES OF THE 17TH CENTURY – THE BEGINNING OF THE 20TH)

The provided material shows that the books printed by presses in Bucharest are rather disseminated throughout the territory of Bessarabia with a wider presence in the northern part of this province, conclusion that can be sustained by the fact that especially in this region the representatives of Soviet authorities were more manifestedly active, closing the holy edifices and confiscating church literature, edited, mainly in the Romanian space until 1917. The earliest printed book that could be identified is the Apostle of 1683 (Printing house of the Metropolitan Bishopric),and the last one is Octoih of 1916 (Printing house of the “Church Books”). The books most frequently encountered in the collections are the following: Triodion (1769), Apostle (1774), Octoih (1774), Penticostarion (1782), Triodion (1798) and Penticostarion (1800). In the collections of Chișinău there have been so far identified 66 titles and editions of Bucharest (137 books), many of which have holograph notes, due to which we could establish the place where the books are situated in time and space.
