ABSTRACT
The aim of this article is to highlight the aspects related to the establishment of Hirova (Ciurova) hermitage, initially by the monks and subsequently by the abbesses. Based on the reviewed documents, the chronological limit regarding the first mention of Hirova hermitage has lowered, towards the 1760-1768, although previously it was considered that the hermitage had been established at the beginning of the XIX century. From the foundation and until 1918, the hermitage had a relatively positive dynamics, regarding the economical progress, the monachal community, the building of the churches and their decoration with the required church inventory, this way being created the premises for the change of the state from the hermitage to the monastery (in 1918) and the upward evolution of Hirova abbesses monastery in the interwar period.
