Cătălin Hriban, De la Arheologia publică la Braconajul arheologic. Necesitatea medierii culturale în arheologia din România

MediCult – Revista de mediere culturală I (2022)

Abstract

The article discusses the specific causes of the current low public opinion on archaeology in Romania and the misconstruction of the concept of „Public Archaeology”, in the context of the evolution of this concept and the conflict between the participatory archaeology (misconstrued Public archaeology) with its predatory fallings and the real needs of heritage preservation. The author argues for the need of cultural mediation between the „public” (predatory or sensationalist) and the „professional” (academic or contractual) archaeologies.
