Abstract
The hospital of Barlad was founded in 1838 within the houses of Elena Greceanu, wife of the postelnic. The maintenance of this institution was ensured by boyars of Barlad and St. Spiridon Trusteeship of Iasi. The director I.Codrescu initiated in 1900 the making of an album of the donors and of a register with biographical data concerning them. The album with the donors’ photos was lost, but many of them were buried in the “Eternitatea” Cemetery of Barlad. On their tombs there are many photos which can contribute to the partial recovery of these portraits. The National Archives of Vaslui preserve the register with the cards of those who made donations for the Hospital of Barlad. The present study presents 74 such biographical cards. By publishing these biographical cards, the Album of the founding donors of the Beldiman Hospital of Barlad can represent a source of information for the enterprise of genealogies of some Moldavian families at the turn of the 19th – 20th centuries, representatives of the important owners or small merchants, especially in the County of Tutova and the city of Barlad.
